About WorldSkills UK

WorldSkills UK is an independent charity and works with employers, education and governments. WSUK is a member of WorldSkills International, a global movement of over 83 countries. WorldSkills International supports young people across the world via competitions-based training, assessment, and benchmarking, with members’ national teams ultimately testing their ability to achieve world-class standards in the biennial Skills Olympics.

Additive Manufacturing (AM) uses specialist software and hardware to design, reverse engineer, develop and create products. AM offers the opportunity to recreate, redesign, reduce and rethink how products are designed and manufactured and is essential in offering solutions to both engineering and manufacturing problems. This WorldSkills UK competition focuses on all the essential requirements for a successful career in Additive Manufacturing. Competitors will be tested on their performance using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to reverse engineer parts from Scanned data or a provided part, design a part to overcome a problem or to aid production. Competitors will be required to Reverse Engineer and manufacture models using an FDM printer at the qualifier events.
